How To Move Up?

Updated 8/15/2025
At TAGS, GymBabies, Toddlers and Tots ages 1 to 3 years old stay with their age group until they turn 4. For gymnasts ages 4 to 17, we use tumbling skills as criteria for moving to the next level.

We spend a lot of time working on basics to improve strength and readiness for each new skill. We evaluate the gymnasts in the middle of each session to determine their level for the next session.

Each skill is marked as either:

Started = Gymnast begins the level in which that skill will be practiced

Tested = Coach has evaluated that skill for proficiency

Attained = Skill has been mastered consistently and gymnast moves up for the next session!

After the gymnasts has attained one of the skills listed in the level, they move to 2. Once two skills are attained, they move to 3. Once all three skills are attained, that level will be marked as attained and they move to level 1 of the next level. (Within the Progressive Program, levels 1, 2, & 3 within each level are typically grouped together. Trampoline & Tumbling class levels are based on the Progressive Program level equivalent.)

Note: Our goal is to keep it positive. Please don’t put unnecessary pressure on the gymnasts to move up. These skills should only be attempted with proper supervision and equipment.
